What is an Undertone:
Let’s talk about what an undertone is. Your undertone is the color from underneath the surface of you skin and it affects your overall hue. Your undertone is associated with skin that has hints of:
Cool – hints of blue, pink, or a red or ruddy complexion
Warm – peachy, golden, or yellow complexion
Neutral – a mixture of the two complexion
You’ve most likely seen makeup products with shades like “cool linen” or “warm beige,” and these descriptions refer to skin undertones.
UNDERTONE TEST #1: VEIN COLOR
There are a few ways to find out your undertone. First, look at your veins. Are they a blue or purple hue, or are they greenish in color? A blue or purple hue means you likely have a cool undertone, while green would be warm. If you find your veins are both, you might be neutral.
UNDERTONE TEST #2: WHITE PAPER TEST
What color do you see when you hold a blank piece of white paper next to your face? If your skin appears more yellow, than you’re probably warm. If your skin looks pink, then you’re likely on the cool side. Also, it helps to always test this, as well as actual foundation swatches, in natural light to see the most accurate color reading.
UNDERTONE TEST #3: SILVER OR GOLD
Now do the same with jewelry, using gold and silver earrings or a necklace against your skin. Cool toned lovelies look best in silver, while warm lovelies look better in gold.
UNDERTONE TEST #4: TRUE COMPLEXION
Your undertone is also often determined by your hair and eye color. If you have brown, black, or blonde hair with blue, grey, or green eyes, you likely have a cool undertone. If you have red, brown, black, or strawberry blonde hair with brown or hazel eyes, you probably have a warm undertone.
UNDERTONE TEST #5: BURN VS TAN
Lastly, think about how you tan. If you burn quickly or burn and then tan, you probably have a cool undertone. If you tan quickly, you’re likely warm-toned, and if you tan slowly, but don’t burn very often, you’re most likely neutral.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT MAKEUP COLORS
Finding your perfect shade of foundation doesn’t have to be hard! With Masckara IID Foundation your foundation is made up of a highlight color and a contour color. Your highlight brightens and lightens while your contour adds shadow and depth. Cara recognized that are faces aren’t flat, or only one color, and our foundation shouldn’t be either!
PICKING A COLOR TO MATCH YOUR UNDERTONE
Now that you know your undertone, lets go shopping for your Maskcara Highlight/Foundation Color best for your Complexion. Maskcara usually gives you two highlight shades (either 2 you could mix together for the right shade or a light one and a darker one). If you look at the chart above and knowing your undertone it should be easier to pick 1 or 2 highlight colors and a contour color.
Look at the chart above and see which color or colors you think will work best for you.

Sometimes people say to go with your cool toned blush if you are cool toned and warm if you are warm toned etc… But I am cool toned and I have all of them and wear all of them. Sometime I mix a cool with a warm and it looks great. If you like to stay with your undertone, Masckara has many to choose from. Maskcara has many pink and berry toned for the cool’s and just as many peachy and nudes for the warm’s and neutrals.
