Many years ago, around the later part of 1981 or maybe early 1982, shortly after Walter Day had opened Twin Galaxies, I discovered the arcade with my friends as we wandered aimlessly down Ottumwa's Main St. At that time, Walter was selling hand dipped ice cream under the brand name "Big Johnnie and Uncle Walter's All-American Brand Ice Cream. It was, in true Walter fashion, dubbed "The Ice Cream That Made The World Famous". Ever the showman and circus style ringmaster, he shot for the stars and claimed that his ice cream was made for the milk of the Gods. Either way, those were great times and I remember them well. Imaging that! Twin Galaxies actually started as an ice cream parlour with a couple video games, and then... WHAM!! The video craze hit and the rest is history. Will we ever experience this special treat again? I certainly hope so, wink, wink.
